While Lotus Miner is gradually being phased out in favor of newer implementations such as Curio, the majority of Storage Providers still depend on it in production. This creates a critical transition risk: if Lotus Miner is not actively maintained before migration is complete, a large portion of the network’s storage power could be exposed to instability, outages, and potential data loss.
This project ensures that Lotus Miner remains secure, stable, and fully operational throughout this transition period. It provides dedicated maintenance focused on three core areas: continuous synchronization with network upgrades, rapid resolution of newly discovered bugs and security vulnerabilities, and controlled compatibility updates to keep the system functional as the broader stack evolves.
At the same time, Boost remains a core dependency for deal-making and data onboarding workflows across the network. Many Storage Providers rely on Boost in combination with Lotus Miner to manage deals, data transfers, and pipeline execution. Without sustained maintenance, failures or incompatibilities in Boost could directly disrupt onboarding capacity and network reliability.
By funding the continued maintenance of both Lotus Miner and Boost, this project preserves the stability of the current backbone of the Filecoin network while enabling a safe and orderly transition to next-generation implementations. This reduces systemic risk, protects user data, and ensures uninterrupted service for the majority of active Storage Providers.
