FIL-B is applying to deliver two complementary lines of work between January–June 2026, aligned with Filecoin’s ecosystem KPIs around paid onchain usage and developer adoption. Line of Work 1: FOC Pod DX Partnership (40% team bandwidth) FIL-B will act as the Developer Experience (DX) partner to the Filecoin Onchain Cloud (FOC) Pod. The focus is to accelerate developer adoption, reduce friction to production, and convert builders into recurring paid onchain users of Filecoin storage, retrieval, and related services. Line of Work 2: Wider Filecoin DX (30% team bandwidth) FIL-B will deliver core FEVM development, Filecoin documentation improvements, and builder community support that strengthen the baseline DX of Filecoin. This work is critical ecosystem infrastructure and intentionally non-revenue-generating. Together, these two lines of work ensure Filecoin’s flagship onchain cloud offering (FOC) can scale adoption, while the underlying Filecoin developer stack remains reliable, modern, and competitive.

Filecoin is entering a pivotal phase in 2026 with the GA launch of Filecoin Onchain Cloud and increasing demand from agentic, AI, and EVM-native developers. However, several DX bottlenecks limit growth: - Major product launches risk confusing or losing developers without coordinated DX support (e.g. developer understanding and adoption of FOC, FEVM and Filecoin). - Gaps in FEVM parity and JSON-RPC support block real-world dapp adoption (e.g. Fusaka-related EVM updates). - Documentation is fragmented, partially deprecated, and not optimized for user journeys. Builder feedback loops remain integral to the Filecoin builder experience. Without focused DX execution across both FOC-specific adoption and core Filecoin infrastructure, Filecoin risks underperforming on its 2026 ecosystem goals, particularly onchain paid deals, paid storage onboarding, and sustained developer MAU.

Developer adoption and developer experience.

- Builder activations and improved FOC docs enable developers to move from experimentation to production, increasing the number of dapps using paid onchain storage and retrieval. - FEVM EIP support and RPC readiness reduce friction for EVM-native teams, lowering switching costs and enabling existing Web3 projects to deploy on Filecoin. - Agentic and AI integrations unlock new dapp dev audiences in the Ethereum and 8004 community, directly contributing to paid storage onboarding (PiBs) and recurring usage. - Continuous builder feedback loops improve protocol prioritization and DX quality, supporting higher developer MAU retention over time. While public-good DX work does not directly generate revenue, it enables downstream teams and applications to contribute meaningfully to Filecoin’s ARR, storage growth, and long-term network value.

- By June 2026: At least 300 Filecoin-based projects shipped through FIL-B supported programs, with ≥60% integrating FOC paid onchain storage. - By June 2026: 800+ monthly active developers engaging with FOC tooling, documentation, or programs. - By June 2026 (milestone-based): Delivery of >3 targeted FEVM EIP or RPC readiness outcomes**, validated through reviewed PRs and at least an assigned FIP number.

- FOC-aligned work positions FIL-B for continued contribution in H2 2026, directly supporting Filecoin’s onchain revenue and adoption KPIs. Sustainability is addressed through Pod proposals. - Public-good Filecoin DX work will continue through follow-on ecosystem grants, protocol-team collaboration, and integration into long-term DX and governance initiatives. This work is non-revenue generating. This grant establishes durable DX infrastructure rather than one-off interventions.

FIL-B is a dedicated developer experience and builder programs organization embedded in the Filecoin ecosystem, with a strong proven track record. The work will be executed by a focused, cross-functional team with clearly defined responsibilities: - 3× DX Engineers: Responsible for hands-on developer experience work across FOC and wider Filecoin, including documentation updates, SDK and tooling improvements, FEVM-related DX support, EIP analysis support, and technical triage arising from builder feedback. - 3× DevRel & Programs Leads: Responsible for builder activations (hackathons, cohorts, bootcamps, Code n Corgi), ecosystem partnerships, developer communications, and sustained FIL Builder community engagement across online and IRL channels. - 1× Protocol Engineer: Responsible for FEVM-focused work including selected EIP scoping and readiness, JSON-RPC method analysis, protocol experiments (e.g. PoRep validators exposure to FEVM), and coordination with core Filecoin protocol teams. This grant goes towards salaries of the team. The execution budget is separately requested in the Pod funding ask, as well as from Filecoin Foundation’s support programs.

- Protocol-level dependencies: Timelines for FEVM EIP inclusion, RPC changes, or PoRep-related experiments depend on coordination with core Filecoin protocol teams. - FOC product evolution: Changes to FOC scope or roadmap post-GA may require reprioritization of DX and documentation work. - External ecosystem shifts: Rapid changes in EVM standards (e.g. post-Fusaka updates) may affect the feasibility or relevance of certain FEVM features. - Developer adoption variance: Builder conversion from experimentation to paid onchain usage may vary based on market conditions and competing platforms. These risks are mitigated through close collaboration with Filecoin core teams, phased milestones, and continuous builder feedback loops.
